Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of nasal sprays, dry powder inhalers (DPIs), and soft mist inhalers (SMIs) for regulated markets (USFDA, EMA).
- Conduct and review literature searches to design product development strategies.
- Propose 1–2 formulation strategies based on literature outcomes.
- Oversee lab-scale development from dispensing to stability charging per SOPs.
- Ensure formulations meet in-process and finished product specifications.
- Facilitate scale-up and technology transfer to GMP facilities, including Sava’s Surendranagar and upcoming Indore plants.
- Evaluate packaging materials (e.g., nasal spray pumps, actuators) through trials for performance and compatibility.
- Monitor stability studies, interpret results, and select prototype formulations.
- Prepare Technology Transfer documents (e.g., BOM, MFR, specifications).
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (QA, QC, Regulatory, Manufacturing) for project execution.
- Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Support stability batch manufacturing, validation, and plant-scale production.
- Prepare Product Development Reports (PDR) for regulatory submissions (IND, NDA, ANDA).
- Exhibit strong leadership, communication, managerial, and analytical skills.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
- M.Pharm or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
- Specialization in drug delivery systems or formulation science preferred.
- Experience:
- 10–15 years in formulation development, with at least 5 years focused on nasal spray or inhalation formulations.
- Proven expertise in early-stage development to commercial scale-up.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of nasal spray formulation techniques, drug-excipient interactions, and delivery systems.
- Experience with device development (e.g., nasal spray pumps, actuators) and parameters like particle size distribution, viscosity, and droplet characteristics.
- Familiarity with FDA, EMA, and PIC/s regulatory requirements for nasal formulations.
- Project Management:
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Expertise in CMC documentation and regulatory submissions (IND, NDA, ANDA).
- Leadership & Communication:
