Job Description
Piramal Pharma Solutions is actively hiring for its Research and Development team in Ahmedabad. This role in the Medicinal Chemistry department offers an excellent opportunity for seasoned scientists to contribute to innovative drug discovery projects within a global CDMO environment.
Principal Scientist – R&D (Medicinal Chemistry)
- Department: Research and Development

- Role: Principal Scientist
- Experience: 10-15 years in CRO industry
- Education/Qualification: M.Sc./M. Pharm in Medicinal Chemistry; PhD / Post Doctorate in relevant field
Skills/Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR) analysis and molecule design
- Proficiency in multi-step organic synthesis, route design, and scale-up
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques including NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC
- Ability to integrate data from biology, ADME/DMPK, and computational chemistry (CADD)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional and client interactions
- Proven track record in leading complex medicinal chemistry projects independently
- Knowledge of impurity management, troubleshooting, and patent-related activities
Key Responsibilities
- Drive molecule design using SAR insights and multi-disciplinary data integration
- Lead medicinal chemistry projects with route scouting and multi-step synthesis
- Troubleshoot reactions and manage impurities effectively
- Interpret analytical data (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC) for structure confirmation
- Collaborate with biology, DMPK, and CADD teams on lead optimization
- Contribute to client discussions, technical reports, and patent filings
- Support continuous laboratory process improvements
