Job Description
AstraZeneca is seeking an Associate Clinical Research Manager to provide strong leadership to clinical research teams in China. The role involves managing direct reports (such as Clinical Research Associates), ensuring efficient study delivery, resource planning, and continuous improvement of clinical processes.
You will work closely with the SMOT Director to support high-quality feasibility, monitoring, and study execution while fostering team development and compliance.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead group work and build team spirit, including developing team style and behaviour
- Ensure adequate resources and balanced workload for assigned studies and direct reports
- Manage development, performance, and training plans for the team as per IDP process
- Contribute to high-quality feasibility work and efficient SMOT organisation at country level
- Drive quality improvement of study processes and procedures
- Plan and organise coaching, accompanied site visits, and performance reviews
- Prepare salary and bonus proposals based on performance in collaboration with SMOT Director and HR
- Support resolution of key study issues and provide direction to local study teams
- Review monitoring reports and follow-up letters to evaluate team capabilities
- Support regional initiatives, cross-team projects, and organisational learning
- Ensure all systems are continuously updated and full compliance with company policies and code of conduct
Skills/Qualifications
- Proven leadership and people management experience in clinical research or monitoring teams
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, ICH-GCP, and local regulatory requirements in China
- Excellent skills in team development, coaching, performance management, and resource planning
- Experience in clinical study feasibility, site monitoring, and quality oversight
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve complex study-related issues
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in clinical trial management systems and tools
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders
Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, or a related field (specific details align with standard AstraZeneca clinical roles).
